KTIP Joins Cell Phones for Soldiers Movement

5-7-08

Portrville

AM1450/K-TIP Radio has teamed up with the "Cell Phones For Soldiers" campaign.

Operations Manager for the local station, "Hopper," says the station is extremely happy

to be involved with this program.

The station is hoping that the local community will get behind this effort and help

bolster our troops opportunities to stay in touch with their loved ones back home.

Hopper says that they are asking people to drop off old, unwanted cell phones at

various locations.  Each cell phone will be worth close to five dollars, for recycling

purposes.  That five dollars will then be put toward buying "calling cards" for our

troops over-seas, especially in Iraq.

AT&T has also gotten on board with generous donations for the project as well. The

city of Tulare is already on board and Hopper says that the city of Porterville " will

not be out-done "

"I know the people of this community, with their pride and ever-

lasting love for our troops who fight for this country, will come through", Hopper

said.

So far we have drop off points at our K-TIP Studios, located at 1660 N. Newcomb

Street in Porterville, the Porterville fair-grounds, and the Porterville Chamber of

Commerce.  Any and all cell phones are really needed.  For more information on this

program and it's origin, please visit, www.cellphonesforsoldiers.com .
